How my Scrum Master Role planned by myself.

Ok, Now we are into Agile. I think we became one among the few companies doing 100% agile. So in agile there is nothing called follow, but Inspect and adopt. So as a scrum coach of Finnovation I able to commit my self for scrum master for Team 199X as a start and I think it was a wonderful opportunity. The this is not a dedicated role, I have to work for other projects as a Architect as well as a Development team member.

So in this article I’m trying to give a basic idea of the way i arrange my work within the office hours and the way i cope with my work.

I’m coming to office at 10am and this is how i i manage my workload accordingly.

Basics.

  • Make sure to remove the impediments. add reminders and try to solve it as soon as possible. Make sure to follow up if it is required to remove by a third party.
  • Team first — you are a facilitator to the team and not a boss. Development team must need a environment to work without any disturbances and make sure to facilitate it.
  • Task — Make sure you updated with the progress. you cant force anyone to do anything. Deliver project on time or Prioritizing work is not your job. it is a job of a Development team and the Product owner. let them to worry about that and make sure you facilitate and help them to deliver it on time. Also assigning task to development team is also not your responsibility. Development team will do it by themselves and scrum master need to setup an environment to do it.
  • Delay — Do not try to make it quick when there is a delay. Find the Impediment(cause) of the delay and remove it ASAP. Make sure development team is working in stress free environment and facilitating that environment is one of your main duty.
  • Learn from the others — Check other scrums, inspect and adopt their good things to your scrum. Talk to other development team members, Scrum Masters and Product owners and get the wisdom.

Time Table

10–11 — Daily scrum is at 11am. I have 1 hour to revise what happened in previous day and do the required follow ups. I added three sections to my Impediment area.

11–11.10 — Daily Scrum. You know what it is?

After 11.10 — if there is nothing to facilitate to my scrum team Im going forward with my regular duties to other scrum teams or continue my task as a member of the Development Team.

There is no exact way to do things as a scrum master. Use your guts and mind and stick to the basics.
